  • Wrote this last week, but forgot to finish it. So I guess I will pick up where I left off (save for a few edits to make it make sense)

Last Tuesday, no one I wanted to win on "The Contender" (aka The Best Show Ever) won. Gary Balletto lost on points. This makes me ask, "If you had first pick in a draft, you probably have the best chance at getting the best all around team, right?  Well, I guess when it's reality TV, all that goes out the door and every fight is pretty much an upset. The Gold Team one 3 of 8 elimination fights. I HATE the BLUE TEAM because the have Cornelius “K9” Bundrage and he SUCKS! Who feels me? Not the wifey. She's always for the underdog (but we both concur that we both HATE K9!). The reason you're an underdog is because it's highly likely you will lose. But not in reality sports. Maybe that's why I hate reality TV so much. Steve Forbes all the way. Unless the producers want him to get KO'd by K9. That would make a good show right? Wrong.

Wednesday night me and the wifey went out to eat at this place called Patsy's Italian Restaurant. Had the Spaghetti Chicken Cacciatore while the wifey had her regular, Penne a la Vodka. They drop some bacon bits (or the fancier, restaurant kind) on it and it's pretty off the hook.  That's why it's her favorite. That's why she got the family size. That's why she shared it with our friend Paula. They did NOT finish it and split the doggie bag. So we got dinner for tomorrow covered. Nice way to spend our 71st month together, don't you think? Dinner with friends (double with Paula and Jun, who tells FUNNY stories ). You think 71 months is really, really, ridiculously long sounding? I STILL love the wifey though.. fo' shoOo'!

...picking up where I left off...

Yesterday, EVERYONE I wanted to win on "The Contender" (aka The Best Show Ever) won. K9 is OUT! "El Gallito" is OUT! All is normal in The Contender World. Boxing is not corrupt, even reality boxing. Because it all finds a way to filter out in the end. Maybe Walter Wright should have won. Maybe Ebo shouldn't have got caught with that left hook from Stewart. K9 DEFINITELY should have been the FIRST man out instead of one of the last. But these are all after thoughts. Two good fighters will square off to win $500,000. Steve "2 Pound" Forbes (age 29, 29 - 3, 9 KOs) and Grady "Bad Boy" Brewer (age 36, 20 - 11, 12 KOs). Not a bad check to cash for a couple of months of free stuff and free gym time! Oh yeah, and for not getting their ass whooped on national TV. It also seems like not a bad match-up for "2 Pound". Especially if Brewer is still hurting from the chin-check Bravo gave him the first round last night! All I know is that I will be satisfied with this fight. Could have been a better finale, but it also could have been (corruptively) worse. All I know is by next week, The Best Show Ever will be over, and someone who deserves it will be $500,000 richer. Rumble old men, rumble!

  • The amount of sleep I had this passed weekend added to the same amount I had ALL Summer! I slept ofr 12 hours Thursday (7:30PM - 8:00AM). Friday night my boy Li came by, but I managed to probably do 8 hours (3:00AM - 11:30AM). Saturday I woke up with a hangover (because that's what I get when my boy Li come through!), so that made me succumb to sleep again during the middle of the afternoon (~5:30PM - 11:30PM)! Sunday was the day I probably got the least amount of sleep (5:00AM - 12:30AM). Now, if you add all that up you get: 12.5 + 8.5 + 6.5 + 7.5 = 35 hours over the passed 4 days. That's about 9 hours a day! About as much sleep as I got when I was in grade school and the 'rents were regulating me!

The good thing was that the week started off pretty invigorating for me. I went Tiger Woods at the driving range again on Sunday. That makes the last TWO times now! I just have to learn to be more consistent though. I was either smashing it (150-250+, no lie!) or I was totally missing and telling Junessa to duck. How can I be on the money one swing and totally off on the next? I guess it's all about technique. So I just have to keep going to the range and getting my form down. First, I have to stop thinking I'm Manny Ramirez at the plate and start thinking I'm Tiger Woods on the course.

Monday was just as invigorating. I woke up wide-eyed, on time and ready for work. I arrived at work promptly at 9:05AM.   But then I worked and got hella tired again. The workout I was supposed to have after work ended up me napping for 30-45 minutes then getting up to write my "capote" blog.

Tusday was pretty much the same. Which has gotten me to deduce that work is the culprit to my fatigue. If there were some way to get that out of my daily routine, I think my lifestyle would sky rocket! I would be more energetic, good at sports, and drink and be merry! But MONEY is the root of all EVIL and an occupation is the friut we have to pick and eat the rest of our withered, weak and dry lives. Sad, but indeed real and true.

So now, I must continue picking and eating.

71 MONTHS... I think we're even beyond the point where it sounds funny when we say the number.

  • "capote". At very first glace, I thought "Quixote". There are obvious differences, the first being their names. One man's mission was to live out stories. The other man's stories about life were his mission. One was created and drawn into fiction. The other was real and created non-fictions. I watched the movie on one, never read the story about the other. So guess who I'm going to talk about?

This movie takes place during the time of Truman Capote. A controversial figure, to say the least. He was openly gay and loved being the center of attention. People may have hated on that, but if you were attracted towards Capote's gravitational pull, you would understand what a charismatic, curious, and captivating individual he was. Dig the alliteration?

Now let me package the meat (of the movie) nice and concise. Capote found a news article about the Clutter Family Massacre. He and his homie, (Nelle) Harper Lee hauled ass to Bumblefuq, Kansas to fish out a story. Upon arriving, they saw how badly the town was affected. Everyone and their mother knew each other and Poppa Clutter was a big guy in town. So, with the 94% memory retention Capote possessed, he and Lee interviewed everyone, and their mother. Including Perry Edward Smith.

Perry Edward Smith and Dick Hickock (real name!) were the two responsible for the robbery gone wild. Capote took a liking to Smith. Most of the movie revolved around their “relationship” and conversations. Being that Smith was the actual knife-wielder and trigger-puller, I bet Capote knew he would get a better story out of Smith. He even hooked them up with a good lawyer. How thoughtful.

No story is complete without an ending though. The end being Smith’s hanging. Numerous telegrams and such were being communicated between the two, but Capote was busy thinking of an ending for a book 99% finished. Even after hooking them up with a lawyer and numerous stays of execution, Capote would not see Smith. Only after he found out that the Supreme Court punched Smith’s ticket did he go back to see his favorite boy behind bars. Smith finally went to the necktie party, inviting Capote to watch from the back row. Awful, but now he had his ending.

One could argue that Capote befriended Smith. One could say he used him to make one of the best non-fictions in American literary history. I say “Dammit, I got thrown for a (Fruit) Loop again!” The real conundrum is this. What was more relevant? The ending to a book, or a possible worthwhile cause? I don’t know. That is what I think made this movie so great. It’s one you have to pay another $11, pay the late fee for or order it onDemand for the whole day because you just have to watch it again and analyze the hell out of it!
